Ne Ndoro Gift Shop & Boutique

Cultural boutique that provides a beautifully curated selection of clothing, gifts, and home decor.

Ne Ndoro Gift Shop & Boutique is a unique cultural, ethnic and African apparel, consignment home goods and travel services store that caters to the Bay Area African diaspora community & beyond.

It is a community centered and minority-woman owned African boutique and tailor shop. It is located on the border of the Temescal and Longfellow district. The store is owned by Zimbabwe native, and longtime Oaklander Lai. Lai is an avid traveler, fashionista, and all-around lovely person. She has an eye for beautiful and culturally diverse items. The store features items from several countries in Africa.

Lai is a gifted garment maker, and she is known for her fast turn-around. She also offers tailoring services including alterations and custom tailoring, also known as bespoke. Bespoke work is a popular service at this shop. They have everything you need to express yourself using vibrant textiles made in Ghana and Nigeria. Whether you have a specific pattern in mind or a vague idea, Lai will work with you to make the perfect outfit. An initial one hour consultation is required for all bespoke services. Call or send a message via Facebook to make an appointment.

Look no further than Ne Ndoro for one of a kind African inspired clothing, accessories, and home décor. Peruse the new and second hand selection of tops, dresses, pants, and more. Accessorize your new outfit with beautiful handmade earrings, bracelets, and necklaces crafted by local makers or artisans from Zimbabwe, Kenya, Nigeria, and more. Each piece is unique and is sure to be a conversation starter. Follow the boutique on Instagram to keep up with new items and featured artists @ne_ndoro. You can also find their booth at Second Saturday and the Ashby Flea Market.

Lai works with over 23 vendors that make a variety of goods including bags, body care, and jewelry. This provides the vendors a residual source of income and allows them to continue doing what they love. Ne Ndoro’s space is also available to the community for well curated workshops and events. The space includes a scenic patio, barbecue grill, and seating.

Are you an Oakland visitor waiting to check-in to your rental, or a visitor that wants to get in some last minute shopping before traveling home? Utilize the luggage drop-off services offered at Ne Ndoro. For a small fee, you can leave your luggage or personal items in their secure shop between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Tuesday through Sunday.

Visiting the shop is an easy walk or bike ride from MacArthur BART. There are bike racks for locking your bike in front of the church across the street. Street parking is free, but fills up quickly.
