Woody’s Cafe

Bright and cozy little cafe that hosts local events.

Woody’s Café is a well known coffee bar and café located in the Ivy Hill District of Oakland. It has been serving the neighborhood delicious coffee and espresso drinks, hot breakfast, and lunch paninis since 1962.

Woody’s Cafe serves Mr. Espresso, which is a commercial coffee roasting company located in Oakland. Drip coffee is self-serve. Cups are located to the left of the register, while the coffee corrals are to the right of the register. Condiments are on a separate table to the right of the register. Espresso drinks include lattes, cappuccinos, mochas, and americanos. They also make a variety of blended coffee drinks and fruit smoothies.

Breakfast items include bagels and panini sandwiches with scrambled egg, cheese, and your choice of bacon, ham, or sausage. They also have a toasted peanut butter sandwich with honey and banana. For lunch, they have a variety of signature sandwiches that come with a side salad. They also have fresh and crisp signature salads. Don’t miss their Monday through Friday Happy Hour from 2:30 PM to 5:00 PM. During this time, paninis are $2.00 off, and any size of coffee is $2.00. Everything at Woody’s Café is made to order, so call ahead if you are in a rush.

Woody’s prides itself on being a neighborhood establishment, and its proprietors offer events that cater to the people that live in the area. These events include comedy nights, art showcases, and open mic nights. These nights are a great opportunity to meet people in the neighborhood, support local artists, or to showcase your talents. Check out upcoming events here.

The cafe is also a wonderful place to hang out while you wait for your laundry to wash and dry at the adjoining wash house, Woody’s Laundromat. Rather than mindlessly watching your clothes tumble, you can grab a pastry and a hot cup of coffee, nestle up the couch, and read a good book.
