Founded by two artists and art educators, Transmission Gallery is a contemporary art gallery that has been operating since 2013. The gallery primarily showcases figurative art from artists whose work emphasizes expressionism and social engagement. The art you see at Transmission Gallery often has a mission or point of view, giving the viewer something to think about.
The gallery has two main rooms that feature the current show, an office, and a outdoor patio. Each exhibit lasts for about two months. While visiting, make sure to step into the office to view some of Transmission Gallery’s most thought provoking pieces.
The gallery is located in West Oakland and has free street parking. They are part of Oakland Art Murmur and stay open until 9:00 pm every first Friday, so make them a stopping point during your evening activities.
The gallery is open Thursday through Saturday, or by appointment. Want to throw a private event in a unique space? Contact Transmission Gallery for private event rentals. But keep in mind, this gallery can only be accessed by stairs and is not accessible for individuals in wheelchairs.
