Classical realism is a method originated by the artist Richard Lack. The term refers to a 20th century painting that convincingly suggests a recognizable object. It is a method that requires artists to display depth, distance, and surface texture on a two-dimensional surface. Value is placed on skill level and beauty. The method was inspired by techniques used by the ateliers of 19th century Paris and Lack’s experience training with Boston impressionists.
