Golden Gate Smoke Shop is a licensed retailer of flavored tobacco and vape products. They are the only shop in the Lower Bottoms and Prescott neighborhoods that carries menthol cigarettes, flavored cigar wraps, and vape juice. They also have a great selection of vape pens and other smoking devices including hookahs.
Mo is the owner of this business. It began as a neighborhood grocery store named State Discount Market in 2001. He converted the store from a convenience store to a smoke shop after the 2018 ordinance that banned flavored tobacco sales in stores that sell items to minors. He has a loyal clientele that comes in regularly for blunt wraps, menthol Newports, and other products not sold at your regular grocer. He even knows most people’s purchases before they reach the register and has the item ready when they walk up.
Along with smoking products, Golden State carries basic snacks, beverages, and grocery items. So you can grab some chips or soda when you come in for your regular purchase. They also have basic streetwear items like t-shirts and brand name sportswear. They also have an ATM in the store so you can conveniently grab some cash before a night out.
The neighborhood is primarily residential and has abundant free street parking. Keep in mind you must be 18 or older to enter this store.
