A must-try African restaurant that serves traditional Nigerian food that comforts the soul and awakens the palate.

Ruth Buka is a one of a kind African restaurant in the Fremont district of Oakland. They serve Nigerian cuisine that is as authentic as it gets.

The restaurant integrates all of the well-rounded flavors and fragrant spices that Nigerian natives love and appreciate. They offer a variety of appetizers and well-prepared dishes in the forms of soup and rice combinations, as well as side orders. Their appetizers consist of meat pie, chin chin, puff puff, and sausage rolls. Their most popular rice combination dish is jollof rice and plantains with fish. The soups range in flavor and ingredients. Some include banga soup, egusi soup, goat and fish pepper soup, okra soup, and much more! Each soup comes with a choice of fufu, pounded yam, amala, and wheat & starch. Follow them on Instagram @ruthbuka and always know what beautiful dishes they will be serving.

Still not full from a combination plate? Try one of their side orders! Options include: moi moi, cooked spinach, and fried plantains.
