Rosamunde Sausage Grill

Sausage joint serving house-made grilled sausages and craft beer in Swan's Marketplace.

Named as one of the 21 best sausage spots in America by Thrillist, Rosamunde Sausage Grill opened its Oakland location in Swan’s Marketplace in Old Oakland in 2013. The German-inspired, gourmet sausage joint specializes in grilled sausages and craft beer.

Known for its extensive menu of sausages, Rosamunde sources its meats from animals that have been raised cage-free and without the use of antibiotics or added hormones. In addition, they do not use sodium nitrite or any artificial preservatives or fillers. You can get the classic all-beef knockwurst if you are on the traditional side, or opt for something a bit more adventurous like the duck & fig, spicy beer, or wild boar sausages. Rosamunde also serves vegan-friendly soy and gluten-free options from Beyond Meat. For sides and toppings, they offer grilled onions, sauerkraut, mango chutney, and potato salad.

Rosamunde started as a little shop on Haight Street in 1998 in San Francisco next door to Toronado, the famous beer bar on the forefront of California’s craft beer revolution. This shop currently hosts a weekly beer rotation on tap featuring local breweries such as Ghost Town Brewing, Ale Industries, and many more. Don’t miss their happy hours Monday through Friday from 2 pm to 6 pm, when you can get $1 off all drafts and $3 select IPA pints. The restaurant also hosts Wednesday trivia nights from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm very week, along with the annual Oktoberfest celebrations and other special events.

This sausage joint has a dining space with a casual pub-style atmosphere separate from the communal area of the marketplace as well as plenty of outdoor seating on their sunny patio, where you can enjoy the charming street views of Old Oakland. You can walk to Rosamunde from the nearby 12th Street Bart Station or arrive by car and use their street parking space.
