Preserved

Shop that offers the tools and classes necessary to do your own fermenting and canning.

Located in the vibrant Temescal district, Preserved is a mecca for the DIY gourmet food maker. If you have ever wanted to make your own kombucha or cheese, this is the place to go for everything you need to be successful. Their store carries an assortment of kitchen tools and starter kits that allow you to make your own fermented foods, preserved foods, and broths.

Elizabeth Vecchiarelli is the owner of Preserved. She is committed to helping the Temescal community have more of a hands on relationship with their food. This is done by providing the tools necessary to make your own fermented foods and offering workshops. The workshops are for food makers with all levels of experience. Surprise your family with fresh homemade sourdough bread, or give the gift of homemade jam this holiday season. You can learn to make these treats, and more, at Preserved. Take a look at their current calendar to see what workshops are coming up.

Don’t have time to preserve your own foods? This store has several small batch artisan foods available for purchase such as fermented vegetables, preserved fruit, and fermented dairy products. Check out the online shop here to see what delicious and sustainable goods are available.

Metered street parking is available on Telegraph Avenue. You can also find free parking in the Walgreens parking lot across the street, as well as on the residential streets nearby. MacArthur BART is a 15 minute walk away from the store, and there are several AC Transit lines that run along Telegraph Ave including 1 and 1R.
