Otaez Mexican Restaurant

Mexican restaurant serving traditional plates from breakfast to dinner with or without margaritas.

Since 1986, Otaez Mexican Restaurant has been serving authentic Mexican dishes to visitors of Fruitvale. Prior to its current ownership, the space was used as a specialty market that also served tasty dishes from Durango, Mexico. The current owners, husband and wife team Jesus and Socorro, have a long history working in restaurants. They seized the opportunity to purchase the market and decided to turn it into a full-service Mexican restaurant and bar. Their popularity has allowed them to open a second location right across the bay in Alameda.

Otaez Mexican Restaurant has an extensive menu that will satisfy even the pickiest eater. From street tacos to an entire fried fish, Otaez makes sure that they have something to satisfy every appetite. Don’t forget to grab a drink! The restaurant is known for their killer Happy Hour, which lasts from 3:00 pm – 6:00 pm. After work, hop off of BART at the Fruitvale station, walk five blocks to Otaez, and take a load off with a margarita and some complimentary chips and salsa. Invite some friends and order a pitcher of margaritas and take advantage of their Happy Hour specials on appetizers.

Any occasion is a great reason to visit Otaez Mexican Restaurant! From an intimate visit with a close friend to a birthday extravaganza, this spacious restaurant offers ample indoor seating and can accommodate parties of all sizes. Parking in the neighborhood is tough, but can be found along International Blvd or on one of the neighboring side streets. Visitors are encouraged to take advantage of the easy-to-access public transit and take BART or AC Transit.
