Mien Tay

Authentic Vietnamese cuisine and boba drinks. Great place for a quick lunch.

Mien Tay is a wonderful Vietnamese restaurant that sits in Oakland’s San Antonio district. This small eatery has indoor and outdoor seating, as well as speedy take-out service. Their menu is full of delicious Vietnamese staples including rice plates, vermicelli plats, and noodle soups. Check out their menu here, menu as of January 2018.

What makes this eatery unique from other Vietnamese restaurants in the area is that their specialty is a House Special Noodle Soup, rather than pho. The House Special Noodle Soup is a fish broth based soup recipe with pork and shrimp. The recipe comes from Trà Vinh in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam.

Looking for something light to snack on? Their shrimp or pork spring rolls are sure to hit the spot with the delicious peanut dipping sauce. They also serve refreshing boba drinks and young coconut juice!

This restaurant is next to the East Bay Laundry. Rather than watching your laundry spin for an hour, grab a bite to eat while watching television on one of their two TV’s. They open early, allowing you to quickly pick up lunch on the way to work. There is also a parking lot behind the restaurant, so you don’t have to spend half of your lunch break finding street parking.
