Integrative Wellness Center

Traditional Chinese medicine and acupuncture clinic that specializes in fertility.

The Integrative Wellness Center offers a holistic approach to wellness by integrating the benefits of Western and Eastern medicine. Acupuncture and herbs are used to help patients manage and heal from a variety of ailments including neurological, digestive, and emotional issues. They also have great success in fertility, prenatal, and postpartum care.

The center is located in a multi-unit building in the Temescal district. The practice is comprised of three wonderful and nurturing practitioners: Dr. Heidi Kao, Maki Hoshino, and Shawna Seth.

Dr. Heidi Kao is a licensed acupuncturist in the State of California. She has a Doctorate and a Master’s degree in Oriental Medicine, and she practices traditional Chinese Medicine. She offers a variety of wellness services including acupuncture, herbal medicine, tui na, cupping, and moxibustion.

Maki Hoshino became a licensed acupuncturist in the State of California in 2014. Her interest in traditional Chinese Medicine stemmed from her personal struggles with fertility. She learned that acupuncture helps bring balance to the body both physically and emotionally and, when combined with IVF, can increase the chance of conception. She uses this knowledge to help women though the fertility process and to promote overall wellness.

Shawna Seth is a California State licensed acupuncturist that specializes in women’s health, pain management, and anxiety reduction. She received her Master’s in Oriental Medicine and is certified in Japanese Traditional Acupuncture & Moxibustion.

The Integrative Wellness Center offers comprehensive diagnostic services to find the best approach for you. Each practitioner takes great care to find the source of your ailment, that way they can create an individualized treatment plan just for you. Along with acupuncture and herbs, diet and lifestyle planning are discussed. Nutritional planning can also be conducted for optimal health.

Call or e-mail to set up an initial appointment. Intake and insurance forms can be found here. Limited patient parking is available on site. There is also metered street and 2-hour residential parking near the building. MacArthur BART is a short walk away from the office, and there are AC Transit bus lines that stop nearby on both Telegraph and 40th St.
