Located in the Embarcadero Cove district, Côte West is Oakland’s newest winery. They offer a wonderful selection of high-quality wine at a great price point. Wine grapes come from different regions within Sonoma County, and each wine comes from a single vineyard. Some popular wines include their Sauvignon Blanc, Rosé, and Grenache. Their wines have consistently rated 90+ points by The Wine Enthusiasts. They also have stellar reviews on Yelp.
Bret Hogan is the owner of Côte West. He received a degree in viticulture from UC Davis and took part in a coveted fellowship in Burgundy working with renowned vintner, Dominique Lafon of Domaine Comtes Lafon. Bret’s inspiration was to make wine that is a mix of the old world and new world. The word “côte” in Côte West refers to Côte-d’Or, a department in France known for traditional winemaking. “West” refers to the winery’s undeniable California influence.
Wine tastings are held every Saturday and Sunday. There is a $10 tasting fee that is waived when you purchase a bottle. For individuals who want to purchase wine but cannot make it out to the winery during regular business hours, online purchases are fast and easy with their online store. Enthusiasts are invited to join their wine club. You can choose between the option of having six or twelve bottles delivered to you twice a year, in spring and fall. You also get discounts on additional bottles of wine, as well as free shipping.
Along with tastings, Côte West’s beautiful space can be rented for private events. Their kid and dog friendly space offers two rooms: The indoor tasting room holds up to 40 people and the winemaking room can hold up to 110 people. It is a wonderful space to hold your private party, corporate event, or community get-together. The location is ideal for events because they have an abundance of free parking and are located in a quiet and safe neighborhood near the waterfront. Contact Côte West today to learn more!
