Rachel Hemphill is an acupuncturist and herbalist that has been practicing for over 7 years. As a 2nd generation Oaklander, she has a strong connection to the city and the people who reside here. Rachel has a long academic history at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (ACTCM) in San Francisco. She has earned her Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine and her Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine, and she has been healing people in the Bay Area ever since.

90% of Rachel’s patients seek her help for fertility purposes. According to some studies, acupuncture can be used to increase the success rate of becoming pregnant during IVF treatments. Rachel has also successfully treated patients who were having trouble getting pregnant without the use of IVF. The wall of baby photos from her pregnancy successes is both inspiring and heart-warming. She also provides prenatal and postnatal care.

While fertility is her specialty, Rachel’s services can help with a variety of ailments including digestive issues, anxiety, aches and pains, and improvement of blood flow. During your first visit, Rachel completes a thorough intake. She evaluates your history while intently listening to your concerns and gives you thoughtful recommendations based on her observation.

Your acupuncture session will be completed in one of five rooms. Each room is designated by a specific intention. Those intentions are Knowledge, Cultivate, Health, Prosperity, and Partnership. Feng Shui is used to decorate each room, and the rooms include the elements that are required to create the Qi that is representative of each theme.

Rachel does an amazing job at creating a serene and relaxed atmosphere during your appointment. She offers heat lamps to keep you warm during treatment, a lavender eye mask to induce a calming effect, and soothing background sounds that drown out constant chatter in the back of your mind. Herbal remedies and massage therapy are offered at City Pulse Acupuncture and can be added to your regimen to obtain the ultimate benefit.

Ursula Anderson provides massage therapy in the office. She has over eight years of experience. Her services include prenatal, myofascial release, swedish, deep tissue, and sports massage.

City Pulse Acupuncture accepts major insurances such as Blue Shield, United Healthcare, and Cigna. They also accept FSA’s. The building is locked from the outside, but you can gain entrance by searching for City Pulse Acupuncture on the call box located to the left of the entrance doors.
