Bartertown Framing

Custom framing completed by a true professional.

Pat, the owner of Bartertown Framing, is on a mission to make a frame for every piece of art, memorabilia, and memento in Oakland. Coined as “the framer for every man,” Pat makes framing accessible to everyone. She has maintained her quaint shop on the border of Old Oakland and Downtown since 2003.

Pat began framing after being taken by the framing section while working at for Aaron Brothers. 30 years later, she is still in love with the artistry involved in framing and the value it adds to any piece. Each piece is treated as if it will be hung in Pat’s own home.

Whether it’s a tee shirt, a movie poster, or a piece that you purchased from a gallery, Pat treats each item as a piece of art. With over 1,000 molds to chose from, Pat will help you find one that accentuates what is great about the piece you are having framed.

Along with framing, Pat does matting, stretching, sewing and floating. Floating is especially important for paper art because when paper touches glass, it sticks over time, destroying the piece if you ever remove it from the frame. Floating ensures that there is enough space between the glass and the piece to ensure it stays in pristine condition.

Bartertown Framing opens early and, if the materials are available, work can be done within a day. Parking in the neighborhood is metered street or paid lot. Protect and preserve all of your mementos by having them framed. Stop by or call Bartertown Framing today!
