East Oakland has some amazing local businesses that provide essential services. We spent a Saturday in San Antonio, and we’re sharing some of our favorite places in this post.
Upgrade your furniture
If you’ve been delaying replacing that couch with a broken spring or old saggy chair, it’s time to visit Good Deals Furniture. They have fashionable furniture, popular brands, and exceptional customer service. You’ll find anything you need at very affordable prices (and there’s lots of free parking nearby).
Lunch
After your morning of furniture shopping, pop into La Benedicion de Cristo Comador Guatamalteco for an amazing Guatemalan rice plate or soup. Every dish comes with handmade tortillas, and there’s always soccer playing in their waiting area. Don’t forget to bring cash!
Pick up supplies for dinner at home
Bring your grocery list, and get all the supplies you need to make a delicious South East Asian meal at Mithapheap Market. Not only can you get all your recipe ingredients, but you can find all the supplies you need (missing a bowl or steam basket? They have everything you need!). If you’re not a chef, you can also pick up pre-prepared and ready-to-eat Thai and Cambodian meals you can take to go.
Pick up dessert on your way home
El Valle Carniceria y Fruteria has an incredible bakery that provides pan dulces and cookies baked fresh daily. This is a full grocery store, so you can pick up any other grocery items you need (check out their fresh cuts of meat).
