La Bendicion de Cristo Comador Guatamalteco

Guatemalan restaurant that offers many of the same authentic dishes as their popular food truck.

La Benedicion de Cristo is the brick and mortar version of the popular food truck on 46th St and International Blvd that goes by the same name.

They serve exquisite home-style Guatemalan rice plates and soups. Plates include a protein option simmered in a savory sauce, which is then placed on top of a heaping portion of Guatemalan style rice. Each plate also comes with tortillas that are handmade with lard. They also serve caldo de gallina, which is a Latin American chicken soup. On a given day, there are five regular menu items to choose from, and one or two specials.

All menu items include a meat protein, which is usually chicken or steak. Generally, there are no vegetarian substitutes. There are two rooms with seating for visitors who would like to dine in. The entrance room has a television that plays live soccer, and gets packed during Copa games. To be seated, wait by the counter on the right when entering the second room. Menus are in Spanish and English, and photos of the dishes are located on the back of the written menu. To pay for your meal, return to the counter, and someone will happily ring you up.

The restaurant does not accept checks or credit cards. If you forget to grab cash before enjoying a meal here, there is an easily accessible ATM at the next door produce market.
