Selam

Unassuming Ethiopian restaurant that serves that has a great reputation for their flavorful dishes.

Selam is a small Ethiopian cafe that serves authentic home-style meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They are located in Oakland’s Hoover-Foster district.

The location gained notoriety due to the sign flipping scene in the Boots Riley film “Sorry to Bother You.” Go visit one of the set locations from one of the most thought provoking Oakland based indie-movies and grab some delicious food! Customers love the foul moudmas, which is a delicious fava bean breakfast dish. All meals are made to order and are reasonably priced.

The restaurant is a short walk from the KONO district and Uptown Oakland. Make the trip to this Oakland gem before a day of shopping or brew hopping. Your stomach and your wallet will thank you.
