Flying Studios is comprised of two spaces that are both dedicated to yoga, dance, and strength training. The two locations are five blocks away from each other in Oakland’s Temescal District. Flying Original is located at 4308 Telegraph Avenue and Flying Mod is located at 4834 Telegraph Avenue.
Laura Camp is the owner of Flying Studios. She is a professional dancer, fitness instructor, aerial performance artist, and yoga enthusiast, and she came up with the studio’s concept. Her husband, Aaron, is responsible for constructing the beautifully designed space.
Several yoga classes are offered at Flying Studios with varying levels of difficulty. Classes that are suitable for beginners include Deep Flow, Mellow Flow, and Nourishing Flow. Most days, the Studio offers at least one donation-based yoga class designed for all levels. Are you an experienced yogi looking to challenge yourself? Take part in a workshop series like Aerial Yoga.
In addition to yoga, dancing is also an option for exercise at Flying Studios. Dance is always a fun way to get a full body work out. Get your blood pumping with a high energy Zumba class, or hone in your sense of timing while giving your core a killer workout with Rhythm Flow. Don’t forget resistance training! TRX and HITT classes are also offered at the studios. They work all your muscles which helps balance out your exercise routine. All strength & conditioning classes and dance classes are great for attendees at all levels. Reserving a class online is fast and easy, and you can view the schedule of all classes offered, here. Notice that the schedule lists which location each class is held at.
Flying Studios takes pride in their strong commitment to community. They want all interested parties to be able to participate in what the studio has to offer without being bound by finances. To help lighten the financial burden, Flying Studios offers Scholarships, which are limited memberships where price is based on a sliding scale. They also offer a work-for-trade, or Flight Crew, option. Regular pricing for single classes, class passes, and memberships can be found here.
Both studios are a short walk from MacArthur BART and are along several AC Transit lines. There is ample bike parking in front of each studio, so consider pedaling out to your next class. For drivers, metered parking is offered along Telegraph, with free parking available along the residential streets.
