ArtVale Gallery is a multimedia art gallery, art school, and art supply store located in the Dimond district of Oakland. The owner, teacher and curator of ArtVale, Shoshana Zambryski-Satchel, is committed to creating a space where the community can come together and affordably create and appreciate art in an area that is otherwise lacking access to the arts.

Shoshana rents out her space to local artists for a nominal fee of $5 per hour. She also sells art supplies including paint, brushes, stencils, and drawing pads. Any item that is not in stock can be specially ordered. The gallery features both local and national artists who generally create contemporary fine art in all mediums. Each show follows a theme chosen by Shoshana. To learn about upcoming themes and exhibits, look here. She also has displays of jewelry and other creative work for sale.

Shoshana offers a variety of classes and workshops for artists and aspiring artists of all ages. She hosts a figure drawing class from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM on the last Tuesday of every month. The course is open to mature participants of all ages, and advanced registration is required either at the gallery or online. There is a $20 participation fee that includes 20 sheets of newsprint.

Drop-in clay work classes are held every Thursday from 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM. There is a $10 participation fee that includes materials. Kids art classes are held every Saturday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM and includes a variety of mediums. The participation fee for this class is $10. Shoshana is wonderful with children and really enjoys helping them explore their creativity. Every Wednesday from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM she donates her time and materials to host a free after school art program for local students from kindergarten to 12th grade. This is an amazing opportunity for young people to learn how to express themselves creatively rather than spending their day on social media or in front of the television. She also hosts a community potluck every First Friday from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Their brochure of classes can be found here, programs as of February 2018.
